I Painted this one from reference I shot on the way to Zion National Park. Along the highway you see these red rock formations that get more and more impressive as you approach the park entrance. I don't know the name of this mountain, but it has this teapot shape that I really like, and down below is a field of blue green shrubs with a little ranch tucked in the foothills. I couldn't resist painting it.

This is a little cove I saw while driving to Big Sur. It's off Hwy 1 which is the most scenic road in the country. A real winding road, but around every turn you are met with a spectacular view like this one.

I repainted this scene, because I thought the previous version was a little too broken up in the shadow shapes and I wanted to soften it a bit to get more atmosphere. The difference is more subtle than I intended partly due to my photography limitations. Anyway I hope you can see what I was trying to do.
